Key Responsibilities

Associate Director – Energy

London | Insurance Broking | Energy

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Energy insurance professional to join an established London Market broker at Associate Director level.

This is a senior, client-facing position combining technical broking, placement, client management and market relationship responsibilities. You will work with large and complex international clients, providing advice on their insurance programmes and negotiating appropriate coverage and terms across the London and international insurance markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the broking and placement of complex Energy insurance programmes.

  • Analyse client risks and provide advice on appropriate insurance structures and coverage.

  • Prepare market presentations and ensure risks are presented effectively to insurers.

  • Negotiate with insurers to secure appropriate coverage, terms, pricing and capacity.

  • Draft and review slips and associated insurance documentation.

  • Manage renewals from initial strategy and preparation through to successful placement.

  • Resolve subjectivities, warranties and other outstanding placement requirements.

  • Negotiate mid-term amendments and endorsements.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with London and international insurance markets.

  • Build trusted relationships with clients and act as a senior point of contact for their insurance requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to develop existing accounts and contribute towards new business growth.

  • Oversee broking activity and ensure client service and renewal deadlines are achieved.

  • Maintain accurate records and a complete audit trail of client and market activity.

  • Ensure all work meets relevant regulatory, compliance and internal quality standards.

  • Support and provide guidance to colleagues within the wider Energy team.

Experience Required

We are interested in speaking with experienced Energy insurance professionals who can demonstrate:

  • Strong Energy insurance knowledge and technical expertise.

  • London Market and/or international insurance market experience.

  • Experience within an insurance broking environment.

  • Experience handling large and complex corporate or international clients.

  • Strong placement and insurer negotiation experience.

  • Knowledge of programme design, risk analysis and slip drafting.

  • Established relationships within the London insurance market.

  • Excellent client management and communication skills.

  • The ability to operate confidently with senior clients and underwriters.

  • Experience supervising, mentoring or supporting other members of a broking team would be advantageous.

Cert CII or equivalent professional insurance qualifications would be beneficial, although relevant market experience is equally important.
