About the Role

Our client is a global broker re-entering the Reinsurance space and seeking a Wordings Specialist with experience in Reinsurance Specialty lines of business.

The Wordings Specialist will lead drafting, negotiation and governance of treaty reinsurance and retrocession contracts. With deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset, you will serve as the primary advisor to brokers, clients and legal teams on complex reinsurance wordings. You’ll lead initiatives to improve consistency, drive operational excellence, and ensure contracts align with business objectives and evolving regulatory landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the negotiation and drafting of bespoke, complex treaty reinsurance wordings

  • Act as a centre of excellence for treaty wordings, setting standards and best practices across the organisation

  • Support future recruitment of Reinsurance Treaty Wording Specialists to build a team of skilled individuals in line with business requirements

  • Represent the company at industry forums, regulatory consultations, and LMA working groups as appropriate

  • Manage stakeholder engagement across production, placement support, claims, legal and compliance

  • Own and maintain a repository of templates and clauses to ensure consistency of standards across lines of business and territories

  • Monitor legal and market developments, assess impact, and embed regulatory requirements in wordings strategy

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the contract lifecycle

Key Skills & Experience

You should possess proven experience in treaty reinsurance wordings within the London Market and internationally. This could be from working for a reinsurance broker or underwriter.

You should have excellent written and verbal communications skills along with being organised, proactive and able to meet deadlines whilst working as part of a team.
